  • Flexible work arrangements including ability to work from home for part of the week

About us

Since its inception in 2003, Shire Legal’s focus is now on providing innovative solutions to its valued clients through the use of technological cloud-based solutions and tools, to make legal service as seamless as possible.

You won’t find any archaic legal practices here. We take great pride in challenging the way ‘things have always been done’.

We utilise new age growth strategies such as digital content marketing as well as more traditional methods, such as networking, to grow our firm.  We also realise that our firm only grows if our team grows, and therefore highly encourage personal development – whether by reading, listening to podcasts and/or further formal study.

Hybrid flexible workplace options are available which includes the ability to work from home as well as our offices in Miranda.  We embrace technology into our practice and operate a paper-lite office with electronic files.

Here’s some of what you can expect to do

  • Manage estate planning files –drafting Wills (including testamentary trusts), Powers of Attorney, Appointments of Enduring Guardianship, attending to appointee acceptances
  • Advise on business succession for high net worth individuals and families
  • Handle deceased estate files – advising the executor, conducting enquiries to determine assets and liabilities, preparing probate and letters of administration applications, handling requisitions, administering estates
  • Deal with estate disputes – whether acting for the executor on behalf of the Estate or the claimant
  • Deal with clients, interested parties, other lawyers, brokers and financiers, banks and financial institutions, Courts, real estate agents, government departments and industry colleagues
  • Keep up to date with legislative developments
  • Assist with other types of matters as required
  • Develop a strong local network
  • Contribute to the firm’s content marketing

What you need

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in estate law (although applicants with less experience are encouraged to apply)
  • Experience in business law and property law would be a benefit, but not essential
  • Excellent client communication skills and the ability to be genuinely empathetic to our clients
  • Prior experience in managing multiple time-sensitive files would be viewed favourably
  • A thirst for knowledge, a willingness to do things differently and embrace technology
  • The ability to manage time and prioritise work tasks effectively
  • The drive to be accountable and enthusiastic in everything you do
  • The ability to attend events outside of normal working hours
  • An intimate knowledge of LEAP, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred, but not essential
